THREE BUILDINGS TAKEN
The Auckland Hospital Board has received notification from the Minister of Health, Mr. Nordmeyer, to vacate the Auckland Teachers' Training College by March 7, and authority to take over, as emergency hospitals, St. John's College at Tamaki, St. Stephen's College at Bombay, and the new intermediate school at Onehunga. The board, at a meeting last night, discussed the matter in committee. It was decided to instruct the acting medical superintendent, Dr. W. Gilirfbur, not to transfer any more patients to the Training College, to evacuate to their homes patients whose treatment could be satisfactorily carried out by district nurses, to arrange for the transfer of ambulatory male patients from the Infirmary to St. John's College, to arrange for the transfer of the : remaining patients from the Training College to the Infirmary, and to restrict admissions to the hospital except in urgent cases. Arrangements were also made for the fitting up of the buildings which will be taken over. . ~ The chairman of the board, Mr. Allan J. Moody, said the Training College was required by the Government, and he was satisfied that the decision, under all the circumstances, was a proper one.
