CHEERFUL SAILORS
The cheerfulness of the British sailor under all conditions was noticed by a former Wellington girl. Mrs. J. S. Dick, who left England for New Zealand some time ago. The sailors were going to the China station and made many friends among the 1500 passengers, mostly women and children.
The, convoy was attacked by five German bombers, the bombing lasting an hour and a half. All this time the sailors nursed babies and children, sang songs for them, and cheered everyone by holding a community sing.
