WIFE'S INJURY

FURTHER REMAND GRANTED

ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGE Remanded from yesterday, when he appeared before a special sitting of the Court, held in a ward at the Auckland Hospital, where his wife is a patient, . William Weir, a labourer, aged 20, came before Mr. ,J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Police Court this morning on a charge of attempting to murder his wife, Phyllis Rose Weir, on January 14.

Yesterday the evidence of accused's wife was taken on deposition, but before counsel for the accused, Mr. K. C. Aekins, commenced his crossexamination of the injured woman, the hearing was adjourned until this morning to ascertain whether Mrs Weir would be in a fit condition to continue with her evidence.

When the accused appeared in Court this morning Detective-Ser-gean* J. Walsh obtained a further remand until to-morrow morning.
