Anopheles Sprints Well At Takanini
An excellent five furlongs by Anopheles and Miss Jose, who ran the distance on the plough in 1.1 3-5, was the highlight of tne work at Takanini this morning, while other good efforts by Waipa candidates included .those of Foxola, River Plate and Grandora. Most of the gallops were done on the inside grass track, on which the poles were five feet out. Miss Gay hit out nicely over five furlongs in 1.2 3-5, Grandora running six furlongs in 1.18, the last five furlongs taking 1.2 3-5. There was little between Foxola and River Plate at the end of their task over five furlongs in 1-3, Route March and First Edition running 1.5 3-5 easily. Sleepy Fox ana Heroic Star both worked well over half a mile in 51s, Gayjax fairing 51 4-ss. Ever England and Court Favourite ran seven furlongs comfortably in 1-34 3-5. The following horses will compete at Waipa on Saturday:—Ever England, Court Favourite, Kraal, Foxola, River Plate, Heroic Star, First Edition, Grandora, Lapldarian, Miss Jose and Anopheles.
