Sir John Reed left by air yesterday for Wellington. Mr. R. Girling Butcher. Dominion Controller of Fire Brigades, arrived in Auckland this morning. Dr. E. Marsden, Director of Scientific Research, Wellington, who has been visiting Auckland, will return south to-night. Mr. H. R. H. Chalmers, of Wellington, general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, is visiting Auckland. Mr. Grey Campbell and Mr. Douglas Robb have been appointed Auckland University College representatives on the board of governors of Massey Agricultural College. Mr. W. E. Anderson, secretary of the Auckland Provincial Employers' Association, will travel to Wellington by the Limited express to-night. Brigadier P. H. Bell, D.5.0., officer commanding the Northern Military District, returned from Palmerston North this morning. Lieutenant-Commander R. Rowsell, naval oflficer-in-charge, Lyttelton, has relinquished this appointment as from December 1, 1941. Lieutenant-Commander A. D. Boyle will*be his successor. I
