ENEMY ALIENS' POSITION*
As a result of declarations of war between this country and Finland. Hungary, Rumania and Japan, persons who are naturalised British subjects, but who were formerly subjects of these States, become enemy aliens unde; the Aliens Emergency Regulations of 1940, and must call on the police and register immediately. The regulations restrict the movements of enemy aliens, and also the possession of certain articles such as motor cars, radio sets, etc. In some cases the persons concerned will discover that it is to their advantage to see the police and have the regulations explaineo to them. It was pointed out by a police official to-day that no one in this category should evade his responsibilities, because it was inevitable that the police would eventually learn of his whereabouts. Failure to report would, of course, entail penalties provided under the regulations.
