APRICOTS IN DEMAND FIRST PEACHES AVAILABLE A few medium quality peaches, the first of the season, were otrered at the city markets to-day and met with a keen demand. Strawberries, which were in heavy supply yesterday, were less plentiful to-day and prices rose. Gooseberries were plentiful and were obtained at reduced rates. Supplies of apricots are increasing, and there is a good demand for quality fruit. Hothouse tomatoes were in heavy supply with the market firm. Choice coloured plums made good rates. Heavy quantities of loganberries were forward with prices unchanged. Cabbage and cauliflowers were slightly easier, and green onions, were much cheaper. New potatoes . were in supply with a tendency to lower value. Cucumbers were in good supply. Pumpkins and carrots still realised high rates. Good supplies of peas and bropd beans realised good rates. Prices were:— Fruit.—Apples: Delicious. 6/ to 10/ per case. Stunner. 17/ to 17/6; Tasma, 10/6 to 16/. Pears. Winter Nells. 12/ to 18/ per case; P. Barry. 7/ to »/. Tomatoes: Hothouse, choice.
