WOMAN'S DEATH
FOUND BY HER DAUGHTER
EVIDENCE AT INQUEST
A married woman, Eileen Muriel Grant, 34, wife of Hubert Milne {Grant, was found dead in her home at 242, Kepa Road, Mission Bay, by her nine-year-old daughter early yesterday afternoon.
In the police report to the coroner it was stated that for some time past Mrs. Grant had been in ill-health. At about 5.20 p.m. on Thursday she told her daughter to stay with a neighbour for the week-end while she went to visit her father in Newton. Prior to saying good-bye to her daughter that evening Mrs. Grant remarked that she was sick of life. That was the last time she was seen alive. i Her daughter climbed through the | window yesterday afternoon to find I her mother lying on a chesterfield, .continued the statement. She had I left a letter, while in another room iwas found a glass containing what appeared to be a mixture of disinfectants. When the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, opened an inquest this morning, I evidence of identification was given !by John Peter Grant, waterside | worker, who said that Mrs. Grant jhad been married to his son, also a ■waterside worker. All the time he 'had known the deceased she had been in delicate health and suffered from nervous trouble. Witness said her husband had left her a week ago. He saw Mrs. Grant on Thursday night, when she said she was feeling much better and seemed much brighter. The inquest was adjourned.
