REV. J. G. HUGHES, Th.D.
The death has occurred in a private hospital of the Rev. John Graham Hughes, Th.D. Born in Auckland 65 years ago, Dr. Hughes was the second son of the late Mr. Richard Hemming Hughes, of Mount Eden. He was for many years in charge of Baptist churches in Great Britain and the United States, and more recently of Presbyterian churches in New Zealand and Australia.
Dr. Hughes gained his degree ir> Louisville, and was engaged in church work in the United States for about 16 years. Owing to ill health he returned to New Zealand and had recently been living in retirement in Auckland. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Phoebe Hughes, of Brentwood Avenue, Mount Eden, and four children of a former marriage, who are resident in the United States. There are two grandchildren.
