NEW FRONTIERS
FINLAND'S EFFORTS
"Strategic Aims Will Soon Be Achieved" United Press Association.—Copyright. Rec. 11.30 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 30. Marshal Mannerheim, Finnish Commander-in-Chief, in a message to the Finnish Parliament, said: "Our strategic aims will soon be achieved. We do not want an imperialist war, but we must have frontiers better than the present ones."
M. Rangell, in a speech, declared: "Russia does not keep her promises. Our security can only be achieved by shortening our frontier a«d moving it farther eastward. England threatens war. It would be regrettable if she reached the opinion that British interests demanded that Finland against her will should be dragged into the big war. Finland hopes the Finnish and American friendship will be maintained."
The United States had made proposals to Finland of such a nature that they would have improved the Russian military position at the expense of Finland, he added. It was hoped that America would give attention to the facts. Finland's reply was made because in discussions concerning Finland's security she could not deviate from the lines stated in the document.
