INCREASE IN WAGES
ENGINEERING TRADE'S VIEW (P.A.) NELSON, this day. "Evidence exists in abundance to show that prices of commodities produced in New Zealand and rents have increased in a number of regards and to an extent that this union will not be satisfied that the principles laid down in the Economic Committee's report have been reached until wages have been increased at least 10 per cent on the present basis." The above resolution was passed by a conference of the New Zealand Amalgamated Engineering and Related Trades Union. The conference expressed grave concern at the stalemate arrived at in relation to wages, i and pointed out that while the union remains convinced that the stabilisation of prices and wages is sound economic policy, the stabilisation of one without the other is unjust.
