Three men and six dogs found excitement on the slopes of Pirongia Mountain when they drove a huge Wild boar into a fight for his life, and had to match cunning with skill, and strength with speed to win the battle. Although the fight lasted only 10 minutes, it was of great ferocity, and before the pig went dowri to the gun of one of the hunters he had taken severe toll on the do<?* and had accounted for the life of one of them. The animal, which alreadv had a list of five dead pig dogs to it's credit, was a beast weighing about 3001b, and had adopted a practice of visiting a farm and attacking the sheep. As vicious as any killer-dog it had slaughtered manv sheep and eaten a number of lambs. 1
