CORRESPONDENTS' VIEWS

CHURCH AXD SUNDAY DRILL (To the Editor) A number of appeals launched by important businesses of this city wer», I am glad to say. recognised and granted. Not much can be done if the home bases are not cared for. Has it occurred to the military authorities that the Church has suffered probably more than any other institution in this.- war. The loss of, in cases all of our young men has meant the collapse of youth work, Bible class work, and has seriously affected the strength of the Churches. Where there is war this is apparently inevitable. If business men can protest, and rightly so too, I want to protest and 1 hope my fellow-ministers will support me against the holding of Sunday parades for youth under 21 who have served three months' training In fairness to the Christian voutn and to the Church parades should be left off on Sundays. It is a day of rest and worship and we shail not profit by using it otherwise. I may say, too. that what equally applies to the youth applies to the Home Guard. If we feel we cannot surrender our sport let us remember that there are those who love the Church and its worship. These deserve our respect as well as the institution which has given so much. I sincerely believe as a minister that this matter should be taken up as a whole by the Christian Church and that it should receive the respect and support of every right-thinking person. L. R. H. BEAUMONT, 8.A., Minister, Church of Christ
