NURSES' HOME
BUILDING STEEL SHORTAGE
The chairman, Mr. Allan J. Moody, reported to the Hospital Board last evening that the building committee had discussed with the Minister of Health. Mr. Nordmeyer, the erection of a six-storey extension to the nurses' home at the Infirmary.
Mr. Moody moved, that in view of a statement by the Minister that there was not enough steel available or in sight to warrant the board proceeding with the proposal, and in view of his recommendation that a two-storev building should be proceeded with, the board should rescind all previous resolutions in respect to the erection of a sixstorey block, and that the building committee be instructed to bring down proposals immediately for the erection of a two-storey structure in brick alongside, or in the vicinity of the present nurses* quarters. The motion was carried after several members had expressed regret at the Minister's announcement.
