AUCKLAND OPINION
CRITICISM REGRETTED Disagreement with the views of judges at the Nelson A. and P Society s show criticising the quality of New Zealand flour is expressed by the Auckland Master Bakers Association, which states — It is regretted that tiie iudees should have seen fit to disparaee New flour and New Zealand bread i Ju .dges have belittled ma d? in this countrv to meet war conditions. Encouragement for the growls best types of wheat for bread-baking and the elimination of pooier types has resulted in great improvement in New Zealand wheat in recent years, and the institute is regarded overseas as doing most valuable work."
Wheat and Flour Controller. Mr. R. MacPherson. attended a meet* ing of the Master Bakers' Association in Auckland and was assured that the bakers have no complaints about the quality of New Zealand flour as at present supplied. The following resolution, which has been endorsed bv meetings of the Thames Valley and Waikato bakers, was placed on record bv the meeting:—"Remarks of the Nelson judges have come as a surprise to this meeting of master bakers, as under the existing war conditions where only New Zealand flour can be made available to the trade, it has been found quite practicable to produce good commercial bread."
