CALIFORNIA CLIPPER
RECORD PASSENGER LIST
WOMAN* MAKES ROUND TRIP
With a record total of 62 occupants the California Clipper will leave Auckland at four o'clock tomorrow morning on her return trip to San Francisco. The Clipper was originally expected this afternoon, but she arrived at 6.30 last evening making only a brief call at Noumea' owing to a slight outbreak of pneumonic plague. The passenger list for the outgoing Clipper to-morrow is said to be the largest ever associated with commercial aircraft operating a regular schedule. Twelve of the 62 comprise the crew. In the light of this experience it is stated that the Clipper would have no difficulty in carrying 50 passengers from Auckland to Sydney. Among those leaving tomorrow will be Mrs. K. McGowan, of Suva, who is the first passenger to make the trip to Auckland from her island home and back.
Owing to the epidemic at Noumea the Clipper will stay there only about an hour to-morrow before proceeding to Suva, so that the entire trip north is likely to be speeded up.
Among the passengers will be Air Vice-Commodore G. Jones, of the Royal Australian Air Force, Mr. J. Wilcox, Assistant-Director of Information in Australia. A. Brenac. Free French representative in Australia, Mr. H. C. French, managing director of Ford Motors of Australia, and Mr. G. Seers, general manager of General Motors, Wellington. Others will be: Messrs. A. Dicken stein, G. Zuur, S. Rowe, P. Meyer. J. Knight, C. Gittoes, W. H. Thurlby H. Muter, G. Blattman, Mrs. G. Seers. Mr. and Mrs. H. Wilkinson, Professor F. S. Cotton and Miss M. Wilkinson.
