EFFICIENCY OF TROOPS

Units from the four Line of Communications Motor Transport Companies in Auckland revealed efficient organisation and careful planning when they took part in exercises involving the movements of troops during the week-end. They worked in close co-operation with part of the Ist (Auckland) Battalion of the Rational Military Reserve, under Lieut.-Colonel G. Archey, OB E in manoeuvres at Duder's Beach, providing transport for the troops and sharing in exercises on Saturday night and yesterday.

Included in the convoy were more tnan 70 vehicles, including motor trucks, vans, motor cars and motor cycies Transport was assembled at Luerslie, and the convoy, proceded by an advance guard, maintained a steady speed to Duder's Beach. A total of 350 officers and men of the National Military Reserve, at 14 men to a truck, were moved, and there were on parade 200 line of communications troops

The convoy was accompanied by two service trucks, a light aid wagon and mechanics to deal with minor mechanical defects. In addition the vehicles of the line of communications companies carried their full equipment, including tents. The transport troops spent Saturday night in covered trucks. Lieut.Colonel E. J. Phelan commanded the line of communications troops.
