INTOXICATED IN CAR

AND AGENT FOR BOOKMAKER

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, this da v. Pleading guilty to being intoxicated while in charge of a car and with carrying on the business of a bookmaker, John Edwin Shore (44) a motorman, was fined £25 on the first charge and £50 on the other by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M.. to-day. Accused s driving license wag cancelled for 12 months.

„ The .police statement was that Shore, on stopping his car after hitting a kerb, was seen bv a constable to be obviously drunk. He also had in his possession a Quantity of betting material and admitted that in the previous week he had taken £30 in bets. He said he was only an agent for a bookmaker on a commission basis.
