LETTERS RETURNED TO N.Z.

MR. PHASER GIVES REASON (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. "Letters addressed to men who became prisoners of war during the campaigns in Greece and Crete are now being steadily returned through the Dead-letter Office," said Mr. Doidge (National, Tauranga) in the House of Representatives yesterday. He asked the Postmaster-General whether, under such circumstances, the letters could be sent to Geneva for delivery to the prisoners instead of being returned to this country.

In the course of a reply on behalf of the Postmaster-General, the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser explained that letters for prisoners of war were subject to certain restrictions and very few of the letters returned complied with the necessary requirements.
