SILK STOCKINGS OFFERED

MP.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. | The New Zealand Federation of Drapers, Clothiers and Boot Retailers, noting the statement of the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan, at Christchurch on Saturday, that the Government was investigating the possibility of supplies of hosiery from overseas, says numerous cablegrams have been received that all types are available for exportation from Britain. Again this morning an offer of 2500 dozen silk and art hose was received subject to immediate acceptance. If the Government was genuine in its desire to relieve the present shortage, the federation urged that licenses should be released immediately in order that existing offers to export to New Zealand might be accepted and the goods shipped.
