DEBT TO SEAMEN'S FUND (By Teleereph.—PerltomenUry Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The New Zealand Sheepowners' acknowledgment of the debt to the British Seamen Fund, which was 1 established in 1915 and which led to many members of the British Navy and mercantile marine and their dependents coming to the Dominion to enter New Zealand's primary industries through Flock House, is to be extended to cover men who serve J!L^ he , pr £L e . nt war and th eir dependents. This extension is provided ior in a local legislation bill which was introduced in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. A written explanation of the clause states: "The fund has admirably f e rJS» u*% VyXP OB, * for which it was established. The trustees of the fund now desire to extend the objects of the fund so as to enable them to provide assistance to members of His Majesty's Naval or Air Forces and mercantile marine who serve in the present war, and the dependents of ?v? y * su u h P er «> n i The trustees find that they will have certain funds available for this purpose after meeting all commitments arising out of the original objects of the fund, and accordingly, it is desired to extend the objects of the fund so as to enable this additional assistance to be ei X ei ±- i n thls connection it is to be noted that 819 of the original subscribers to the fund have indicated agreement to the diversion of the funds in the direction indicated, and this number practically exhausts the number of original donors now living. ■ * ...
