After several members had been heard, including the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr. Sullivan, in reply, the measure was j put through all stages and passed. | During the afternoon sitting a bill ! extending the operation of the Fair i Rents Act until October .11, 1042. ■ was brought down and. with the co- ! operation of the Opposition, was put j through all stages and passed in ' quick time. The measure was necessary as the present extension of the ; l air Rents Act expires next Tuesday. A second bill also came forward in ! the afternoon making px-ovision for administration of the Kitchener Memorial Scholarship Fund. A Coal Mines Amendment Bill making amendments to the Coal' Mines Act. 1920, in the light of ' recommendations made after the ! investigation of the Huntlv mine j disaster, was introduced in the evening. was read a second time pro forma, and was referred to the Goldfields and Coal Mines Committee In j reply to the Leader of the Opposition | Mr. Holland, the Minister of Mines' I Mr. Webb, said that the bill was of j a non-contentious nature.
