ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY At a conference of the executive of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association and delegates from returned soldiers' clubs in the metropolitan area last night, it was pointed out that the £17 expended weekly by the Great War Funds Administrative Committee on the operation of the Evelyn Firth Home could now be used advantageouslv for the benefit of many veterans of the Great War who were at the present time assisted to the extent of several hundred pounds a year. Others speakers stated that many returned men were finding difficulty in managing on pensions and allowances which had not been altered since 1915.
