AIR MAIL LATE FEE

FOR DISPATCH BY CLIPPER The inauguration of a late fee service for mail dispatched by PanAmerican Airways Clippers was announced to-day by tne postal authorities in Auckland. It was stated that the late fee in connection with air mails for the transpacifir route, which closed on Mondays to Fridays, would operate after the normal closing time of 10 a.m., and that late fee mail would be received until 3 p.m. on these days. When the mails closed on Saturdays late fee mail would be received up to noon. The action of the Post and Telegraph Department in providing the extended service is in response to representations by chambers of commerce and other business groups, and should be of particular benefit to Auckland, which is the terminus of the air mail services with both sides of the world. A minimum late fee of 2/ for half an ounce, irrespective of destination, will be charged.
