BRITISH VICTORY
ABSOLUTE FAITH
Duchess Of Luxemburg Speaks
To Her People
Rec. 1 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 7. "What I have seen in a short while in Britain and in many months in America has confirmed my absolute faith that Britain will win and Luxemburg be free again," said the Grand Duchess of Luxemburg in a European broadcast, addressed specially to the people of Luxemburg.
She said that the whole of the British people are as one in their determination to persevere until the day symbolised by the letter "V." She was proud to be with the nation who, from the highest to the lowest, was prepared to make every sacrifice for freedom, and understood the resistance of small peoples.
"There is, indeed, something great about the solidarity that unites a great people like those of the British Commonwealth of Nations with those of a small nation like Luxemburg," she said.
"What a magnificent example Britain gives to the world in her battle for the principles of right!
"I know that there is deep and heartfelt sympathy for our country in the United States, whose people— particularly hundreds of thousands of Luxemburg extraction—regard our cause as their own. President Roosevelt himself assured me more than once," she concluded, "that the great American nation would not forget little Luxemburg. Not later than last Monday he solemnly declared that America would do her utmost to vanquish the enemy of mankind."
