Good Acceptance For Jellicoe Handicap

Oiff acceptances received yesterday for the Takuranga Hunt Club's meeting, to be held at Kllerslie on Saturday next, ate such that excellent lacing is assured. In the Sylvia Park Handicap there ate no 'ess than 33 paid up for. and unless there aie some withdrawals the event will have 10 be run in two divisions. In such case lhc stake will be increased to .£3OO. the winner of each division to receive A.' 100, hecond horse ii:V, and third f la.

Fiom a monetary point, the chief event of the day is the I'akuranga Hunt (up. but most racegoers will be more concerned with the problem of finding the respective winners of the Jellicoe and Admnalty Handicaps, which races will form the double.

I here are 10 acceptors for the Jellicoe, one mile, and among them are some walloper* who can i.Lep a merry eight nirlongs. ltadiant Vaals, 9.2, is topweignt. and in view 01 his recent excellent form. he has earned his place. The sen of \ aais won two races and was second in another at the Great Northern meeting, and tallowed up these performances by winning the resident's Handicap at I hames on Saturday last. He then carried 8.8 and scored nicely from Ganios, who carried 7.1), a difference of >3)b. At Ellcrslie (iamos has boon raised to 7.5 and now meets Radiant Vaals on 21b better terms. This hardly seems enough for a decisive beating, but Gamos is likely to be an improved horse next week and he will go a merry mile. As a matter of fact, he looks like being one of the hardest to dispose of.

\oung Paddon. claiming an allowance, met Radiant, Vaals at even weights at Thames and now receives 41b, but Young I'addon did not gain a place, although he was doing, well close up fourth at the end. Still, the chestnut is getting on in years, and though a good winter horse, most backers will prefer Radiant Vaals. Night Pilot has riot raced since Easter, when he won the President's- Handicap ai Ellerslie with 7.13 but was beaten out of a place the second day in the H. O. Nolan Handicap with 8.7. He may not be ready to give of his best at his first run of the season.

When Greek Queen won a division of the York Handicap on the final day of the Great, Northern meeting she did so in fine style, beating Radiant Vaals by a couple of lengths. She was then in receipt of 31b from him. and over- the same groucd next Saturday she t r-c '. os 8!b, the respective weights being Und'ant Vaals 9.2, Greek Queen 8.8. These figures would point to Greek Queen bavins an undoubted chance, but she was spelM after the June meeting and may not be at her best next week.

Sir Cameron. 8.0. has been beaten in each of his last four starts, but he is a good galloper and has been working well on the training track, which suggests he is coming back to his best form. A solid mile is well within his capabilities. Flying Acre. British Talent and Royal Appellant have 'each 7.10 and are possibilities, although several others will be preferred. Lovaals was Becond in the Cornwall Handicap, his beat effort, and though Valmint has failed in his recent effort*, he is a useful miler. particularly if the track is soft. The others do not appeal at this stage, and the early favourites are likely to be Game*, Radiant Vaals and Lovaals. The Sprint Tn the second "leg." the Admiralty Handicap, the minimum is 8.0. and on their_ form both Beau Leon and Cbrato seem" to have ample \ve : ght in 0.9. Interest will c?utre in the appearance of Krone* and Route March at three-yea Isold, and Mr. McManemin his by his imposts decided that Kronos was the best of the pair at two years, although he certainly does not place much between ihem—«mly lib. The winner should come frrmT fhopo weighted under 9st. and one wtio will be in demand is Expellant, 8.9. He is a fit horse, and he scored a very easy win at Thames last week. Sure Pay 87. Aero King 8.8. Transmitter 8.6 and (alula Boy 8.4. are likely sort's. Erpellant will probably be the eai ly favourite.
