TESTAMENTARY DIFFICULTY

Hotter progress was made by the 1 louse of Rept esentatives yesterday with the second reading debate 011 the Finance l'iill, and all other si ages of the measure being disposed of during the afternoon and evening, there was an important discussion on the difficulties being experienced in settling the estates of men who are reported killed overseas and who might subsequently be reported alive.
The acting-Prime Minister, Mr. \ash._ explained that some of the Now Zealanders who were missing might be at large and taking part in guerilla warfare in the hills of Crete. He emphasised that everything possible was being done by the Government to get accurate information as speedily as possible.
When the committee stages of the Finance Rill were reached, Mr. Nash told the House that if the bill could be passed during the sitting it could go to th- Legislative Council next Wednesday, but he had no desire to rush the measure through if there were points upon which the Opposition required further explanations or discussion.
The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Holland, readily agreed to the disposal of the bill during the sitting, and after three amendments of a machinery character had been adopted, the bill was passed in time for the House to adjourn at 10.20 p.m.
