SOCCER TROPHY
Before the main game Mr. J. E. Jones, president of the Canterbury Football Association, congratulated the members of the Canterbury team which defeated Wellington for the English Football Association Trophy last Saturday. He quoted extracts from a letter by Mr. A. Williams. secretary of the New Zealand Football Association, in which he stated that the Canterbury men gave one of the most brilliant exhibitions of the code for years. Canterbury has already received two challenges for the trophy. The first, by Otago. will probably be played this month, while the second, from Wellington, will take place early in September.
