WOMEN TRAM CONDUCTORS
DECISIOX IN MELBOURNE i Rec. 1 p.m. MELBOURNE, this day. . The chairman of the Tramways Board announced to-day that women ,will be employed as conductors on i city trains. They will be paid the jSame wage* as men and have the same conditions. Preference will be given to the wives of .employees on active service. Because of the congestion on jthe trams it;was found necessary to provide the traffic staff with relief.
