REUNION IN CAIRO
SACRED HEART OLD BOYS DINNER, MASS CELEBRATION Schoolday friendships were renewed on a recent Sunday in Cairo when former pupils of Sacred Heart College assembled at the National Hotel for a reunion dinner. The function was preceded by Mass. which was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Cairo, by the Rev. Father W. Sheeley, a Catholic chaplain with, the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and a former pupil of the college. Over 50 old boys were at the Mass, all ranks and nearly every unit in. the N.Z.E.F. being represented. Father Sheeley was also the preacher. Many toasts were honoured at the dinner which followed. Father Sheeley presided, and others present were the Rev Father L. Spring. S.M., and the Rev. Father E. A. Forsman, both serving chaplains. The Rev. Father Leonard Henry, 0.F.M., an American Franciscan stationed at SL Joseph's Church, was a guest.
The toast of "Alma Mater" proposed by Father Sheeley, was responded to by Lieutenant K. F. Jones. Lieutenant J. J. Eourke proposed the toast of kindred associations. The Christian teaching whicli was the basis of the Catholic educa« tional institutions was referred to by Father Spring. Father Forsman also spoke briefly. Before the con* elusion of the reunion the college song was sung and the walls of the room resounded wiih the rbaiiensre of the college haka. At tr>e conclusion. "Faith uf Our Fibers'' was sunp.
