RESIGNATION
SIR ANDREW RUSSELL ARMY INSPECTOR-GENERAL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, this day. The resignation of Major-General Sir Andrew Russell as InspectorGeneral of the New Zealand Military Forces, was announced last night by the acting Prime Minister. the Hon. W. Nash. Mr. Nash said Sir Andrew had reached his decision consequent upon the appointment of Sir Guy Williams as military adviser, and also for health reasons. "The Government wishes to express gratitude for the sterling work accomplished by Sir Andrew during his term of office," said Mr. Nash. "His long experience and wise counsel have been of the greatest assistance in formulating the expansion and training of our military forces. The National Reserve and Home Guard owe a great deal to his never-failing interest in those organisations. Sir Guy Williams has expressed appreciation and the help afforded him by Sir Andrew, whose services will still be available as a member of the War Council, to which the Government, with his consent, reappointed him."
