Marlborough Oysters By an amendment to the sea fisheries regulations, 1939, gazetted last night, the taking of oysters in Marlborough Sounds and vicinity will be permitted until October 31, after which there will be a close season until May 31, 1942. However, the operations of fishermen in this area during the open season will be limited by the fact that no person may take more than 12 dozen oysters daily nor use in any day a boat from which 12 dozen oysters already have been taken. Moreover, no oysters taken in this area may be offered for sale. The oyster beds in this area have been closed for several years. Western Springs Campers Commenting on the position of the six groups of people who have been living in caravans and tents at the Western Springs motor camp, and were given verbal notice to leave yesterday, the Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Ailum, stated that while the City Council did not wish to be hard on the campers, it would be failing in its duty if it allowed them to remain any longer. The council was under no obligation to provide semi-perma-nent accommodation for people in a camp which had been established .solely for temporary use by visitors to the city. The council had found a house for one family with children which was living under specially unsatisfactory conditions in the camp, added Mr. Allum. It would gladly have done the same for the others if that had been practicable. Written notice to leave in a week's time was served on the campers by the City Council on July 15. and the ; period of grace expired on Tuesday
