DESERTING SOLDIER

IMPRISONMENT SUSPENDED

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day

Imprisonment with hard labour for one year has been imposed on Private Leonard Robert Moulin, a member of the N.Z.E.F., who was court martialled on Tuesday on a charge of desertion. On the order of the officer commanding the district, however, the sentenced has been suspended, to be reconsidered at three monthly intervals.

Moulin pleaded guilty to a charge that he absented himself without leave from Burnham Camp on May 30, 1940, and remained away until he was apprehended by the civil police on October 2, 1940.
