SHORTAGE UNLIKELY
AUCKLAND POWER SUPPLY
Under ordinary circumstances, there is unlikely to be any shortage of power in the Auckland Electric Power Board's area.
The general manager of the Auckland Electric Power Board Mr R H. Bartley, said to-day that consumers had been asked to economise and not waste electricity, and the appeal had had a good effect If care were taken the position would soon improve, and it would not be necessary to impose restrictions which might be inconvenient..
Mr. Bartley added that a cold snap a few weeks ago had caused a sharp rise in the load, and a desire for warmth had led some people to overrule their desire for economy. The coal stocks for the King's wharf plant were now much more satisfactory. They always had to keep in mind the possibility of the chance of failure with some generating plant, and therefore everything had to be kept up to the highest state of efficiency.
