First Beaufort Bombers Built In Australia STEADY RISE IN PRODUCTION Rec. 2 p.m. MELBOURNE, this day. The Minister of Aircraft Production, Senator G. Leckie, announced that the first batch of Australianproduced Bristol Beaufort torpedo bombers would be completed in October. Another batch would be ready before the end of the year, and after that production would be maintained steadily on an increasing scale. Because it was powered with American engines, the Australianbuilt Beaufort had to be modified considerablj'.
