ST. JOHN SEWING GUILD The half-yearly repc>rt of the St. j John Ambulance Rrigade -Sewing i Guild, presented by the convener,' Mrs. G. S. Cammell, showed a credit-1 able amount of work achieved, i Owing to the demands of war work, the guild commenced early this year.

From material provided for the • E.P.S.O. stations. 10,000 dressings > and 2100 triangular bandages were j made, while from the guild's own material for the new soldiers' hospi- j tal. 300 linen jug covers, 120 limb j cushions and 124 splint pads were | given, a total of 2628 handkerchiefs ! were made. For the Patriotic Com- ! mittee, from material provided and j from the guild's own material, 260 j check handkerchiefs were given for soldiers' parcels. i

For the military camp at Narrow j Neck, two drop-scene curtains were j cut and hemmed from material pro-1 vided, while 15 parcels of clothing, ! either mended or re-made, were sup- j plied for the St. John Ambulance Association district nurses, for dis-] tribution to their needy patients.

It was reported that many useful garments and bandages had been sent in by individual outside helpers and by the Belgium Street School Guild of Mothers, by the scholars of Westmere School and by the girls of the Blind Institute. Outside help had been given with the cartage of parcels and donations of tea, milk and biscuits, for the workers' lunches, have been most acceptable. One firm teased rags for the guild free of charge.
