CHEESE INDUSTRY
MR. SEMPLE'S APPEAL
(P.A.) WELLINGTON. Wednesday
The Minister of National Service, the Hon. R. Semple, stated to-day that hundreds of workers in the cheese manufacturing industry had not yet fulfilled their obligations under the cheese industry (registration of employment) order, whereby men engaged in that industry as well as those who at any time since July 1, 193(>, had been employed continuously in the industry for three months or more were required to register by July 1 4. .
Mr. Semplc urged those eligible to register to do so immediately. The order also required cheese factories to register and supply certain information to enable provision to be made to meet the labour requirements of the industry for the coming .season. The Minister said ( that here again only a small number* of registrations had been effected within the time limit, rntl emphasised the necessity for early registration.
