ACCOUNTANTS , REQUEST

PLACE ON COMMITTEE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday.

A meeting of Wellington accountants passed a resolution urging that the special committee under the Excess Profits Tax Act should include a fully qualified nominee of the Society of Accountants. It was held that such an appointment would be distinctly in the public interest.

It was agreed that public accountants should make a strong effort to get the fixation of a later date than May 1 for the first instalment of the Social and National Security Tax as the present obligation put a tremendous burden on accountants concerned with the taxation interests of clients. The problem, it was stated, was becoming steadily worse.
