CANNED MEAT
FOR MEN OVERSEAS (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter ) WELLINGTON, this day. Instead of putting ewe and wether mutton down the chute to be made into manure it should be canned and sent away in troopships, suggested Mr. Kidd (National, Waitaki) in the House of Representatives yesterday when protesting against any proposal that meat should be made into manure. , Mr. Kidd recalled that he fought in the Middle East in the last war when the troops were fed on bully beet and biscuits. On that account he would urge the Government to push on with the erection of canning works as quickly as possible and ship away as much canned mutton as could be dispatched. He was sure the soldiers in the Middle East would appreciate canned mutton a great deal more than the bullv beef that was forthcoming in the last war.
