UNEXPECTED GRANT
MOUNT EDEN BATTALION Intimation that the Government had forwarded £64 toward the expenses of No. 5 Battalion of the Home Guard at Mount Eden was received at last night's meeting of the Mount Eden Borough Council "It is a new procedure. I did not know that we were going to receive: it," said Mr. A. T. Dow, who is also commander of the battalion. He ex- 1 plained that a claim for £64 10/ toward expenses had been made to the Government, but nothing further was heard of the matter until then. The application from the battalion for a grant of £50 from the council was withdrawn, but it was decided that the amount be retained in the! i budget.
