NEW ZEALAND DRAFT
WELCOMED IN BRITAIN
<0.C.) LONDON, June 25. Mr. W. J. Jordan, High Commissioner for New Zealand, accompanied j by Mr. S. R. Skinner, chief clerk of New Zealand House staff, London, and Mr. William Goodfellow, of Auckland, welcomed New Zealand drafts for the Fleet Air Arm, R.N.V.R. (N.Z.), ratings and Freej French officers and ratings from Tahiti, when they landed in this' country from New Zealand. !
Addressing the New Zealanders, Mr. Jordan said they had set out on a big job, and he was very pleased to see them on their arrival in Britain. British homes would be 1 thrown open to them. There were less sugar and other commodities than there used to be, but the British people were always ready to put by their week's rations to enter-! lain friends from overseas. There were already 2000 New Zealanders inj Britain. "New Zealand House wants to do all it can for your comfort," said ' Mr. Jordan. He had seen reports of jNew Zealand soldiers, airmen and ■ naval ratings already in this country, and they made him feel proud.
