Endeavours are being maifc if the Auckland Placement Office to fe duce men who have left their and drifted into other employmot to return to the industries for whljl they are best suited.
This fact was mentioned fldl morning by Mr. J. R. Elsbuiy, PlaQfr ment Officer, who said there wsi many tradesmen In occupation where they were not using th* ability as tradesmen. Many suci men were in the tramways servfcl and working as watersiders, to mat tion but two cases.
Mr. Elsbury added that expat enced workers were still beiif eagerly sought for trades and indt» tries engaged in essential work far war purposes. In the engineering trade, machine moulders weft urgently required for munition! work. Shipwrights were needed fcf the construction of minesweepers, M also . were boilermakers, iron moulders, turners and fitters. There were vacancies in various other trades, such as those engaged in tin manufacture of footwear and dofr ing to fulfil army contracts* \
