Bay Filly to Rosalind Has Speedy Parents

ROSALIND, winner of the Hambletonian Stakes of £7122, the richest event in the world for three-year-old trotters, has had her first foal. It is a bay filly by Dean Hanover, lmin 58isec, world's fastest four-year-old trotting stallion. When five years old, Rosalind took a record of lmin ,T63sec, which is the fastest accomplished by a trotting mare. During the same year, she was paired with Greyhound lmin 551 sec, and they established a record for trotters travelling side by side. They covered the mile in lmin 593 sec.

Dean Hanover is a horse with an almost perfect temperament. He was driven to his record by a schoolgirl, and is owned by the famous Hanover Shoe Farms Company.

The filly foal thus claims the fastest speed inheritance of any youngster yet foaled, and the sire and the dam together hold more world's records than any tetter jet produced in America. Dean Ilanover also holds the world's record for two-year-old trotters over a hallmile track, world's record for three-year-old trotters of lmin oSlsec, and world's record for four-year-old trotting stallions. Dean Ilanover was not kept eligible to the principal stakes and futurities including the Ilamhletonian and the Kentucky Futurity. He raced in highclass form losing only one event as a three-year-oid. Rosalind began her career as a two-year-old by winning the principal engagements for her age and gait, and as a three-year-old she won the Kentucky Futurity, as well as the Hambletonian Stakes. At four, she led a field home in the Transylvansa Stakes which is the biggest event for trotters of all ages, and in the same year she trotted a mile in lmin 57sec. She later reduced her record to lmin 563 sec. She will be bred this season to Spencer, which took a record of lmin 593 sec when he was three years old. lie is a trotter. Both Rosalind and Dean Hanover were retired to stud when they were six years old.
