THREE WELLINGTON BOXERS FOR NEXT MONDAY'S BOUTS

When the Wellington trainer W. Hedberg brought Tommy Hansen to Auckland for his fight with Clarrie Gordon the pair were accompanied by "Tich" Lewis, an amateur whose aggressive tactics have made him popular in the Wellington ring. Hedberg was keen to get this boxer, a southpaw, a bout with an Auckland amateur, and the association has met his request bv matching Lewis with E. Black. This bout is expected to add interest to the amateur contests at next Monday's programme at the Town Hall. . Hansen and Gordon in their return bout will be fighting for the big money—a £50 purse—while Billy Brown, a'lso of Wellington, will contest the smaller purse with Hughie Sheridan, the Aucklander, who is making his professional debut. It is contended by Hansen's supporters that the 10-rouncl bout will suit him better than the eight rounds which he fought before in Auckland. He certainly impressed more in the concluding stages of that contest in which Gordon piled up the points over the first half with his aggressive tactics and better in-fighting. Hansen has good ringcraft, and the feature of his boxing last time was his powerful hitting when on retreat.
