ROBERT MONTGOMERY is leaving Hollywood for six months and, after a brief vacation, will work in the propaganda department of the U.S. Government. * + + ♦ JEANETTE MacDONALD and Gene Raymond celebrated the fourth anniversary of their wedding on June 16. This is one Hollywood marriage heading for a long term. + + + + ("JLORIA SWANSON is wanted for the movie mother role in "Claudia," says a Hollywood writer. It was strange to see Gloria with Gene Markey recently. In the heyday of Gloria's fame, Mr. Markey was her most attentive beau. ♦ + ♦ ♦ 'J'HE highest figure ever offered by the United States for distribution rights of a British film has been paid by Columbia for "49th Parallel." This company will distribute it in all available countries outside Britain. Its stars are Leslie Howard, Laurence Olivier, Raymond Massey and Anton Walbrook.
