FAMOUS MARCH
A Bandsman's Reverie
There must have been many oldtime bandsmen and others who were both surprised and delighted when they read that a present war Digger stated he had marched behind a band playing the old-time march "Invorcargill," which must go down as one of the most popular quick steps ever composed, writes Ranui. Subject to correction, and if my memory serves mc right, this march was dedicated to the southern New Zealand town.
How those four bands of the Australian Ith Brigade loved to meet the New Zealand hands at Iho cross roads in the Egyptian desert and tear into this march under the baton of that fine old bandmaster, Mr. Whalle.v Stewart, who has now crossed the Great Divide.
