"There is only £40,000 to come in to reach the total aimed at in the £1,000,000 all-purposes patriotic appeal," said Mr. J. Abel to-night. "The provincial totals are:—Wellington, £250,700; Auckland, £221,000; Canterbury, £118,000; Otago, £104,000; Taranaki, £70,000; Hawke's Bay, £54,500; Nelson, £37,500; Southland, £35,000; East Coast, £27,000; Westland, £23,100; Marlborough, £18,900; total, £960,700."
