TREE PLANTING
ARBOR DAY PROPOSAL
MEMORIAL PARK CEREMOM
The holding of a tree-planting ceremony on Arbor Day. Wednesdav, August G, in the memorial park surrounding the tomb of the late Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, has been proposed in a letter which the Mayor. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, has received from the Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs. Mr. J. W. Heenan, who stated that the plan has been approved by the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. W. Nash, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon W. E. Parry. Mr. Heenan added that probably Mr. Nash and other members of the Cabinet would take part in the ceremony and that members of Parliament, representatives of local authorities and old friends of Mr. Savage would be given an opportunity of planting trees. Mr. Allum said that" the superintendent of parks, Mr. T. S. Aldridge, would be consulted with a view to giving effect to the Government's wishes.
