Headmaster of the Whangs® school for many years, and an. o» resident of this district, Mr. Willi® John Council, of Waipu, died a short illness. Born*in years ago, Mr. Council cametoftC* Zealand when 20 years of age, entered the leadline profession. was on the staff of an AucklaM school before coming to Whangai® He was headmaster at W hangar*-: from 3SSS to 1 'Hi:;, and then to Waipu. During the last war, the shortage of teachers, he rejnfl»» teaching and was head of theWaP Cove school. A foundation me®*; c>f the Masonic Louge at WaipU, - retained an active interest inwjj lodge up tc> his death. He is surviy l by a grown-up family.
