RECORD TRAFFIC
AMERICAN AIR LINERS NEW ALL-FREIGHT SERVICE SAN FRANCISCO, June 30. * May was the largest month for airline traffic in the history of the aviation industry, according to figures released here recently by United Air Lines.
Those air lines carrying 90 per cent of the nation's passenger and cargo business reported gains in revenue passenger miles estimated at 17i per cent above April figures and 34 per cent ahead of traffic for May, 1940.
Due to heavy increases in air express and freight United is now making a survey to ascertain the value of an all-freight air service between important cities. The survey is being made in San Francisco because of the heavy transpacific shipments arriving here both by boat and by Pan-American Clipper for transmission by United to the east.
